Europe, North Africa and the Middle East |

For many birdwatchers continental Europe is the first step on the road to overseas birdwatching that may eventually lead them to parts of the world they never imagined they would visit. For others, Europe is an end in itself, providing the opportunity to study, and appreciate in depth, species which are seldom seen in the British Isles. Still more thrill at the sight of the massed migration that pours life each spring into an awakening Europe and that offers the excitement of unusual birds in unusual places. Our tours to this region aim to fill all these needs. On the Finland and Arctic Norway tour, with Dick Forsman, you have a leader who delights in showing the birds of his country to other people. Our spring tours to Mallorca and Spain are relaxed affairs that not only take in some of the Mediterranean's special birds but also give you time to study them at length (and appreciate the local food and wine). Slightly further afield in Morocco and Oman we experience whole new cultures and catch tantalising glimpses of strange new bird families that may well lead us to other adventures in Africa or Asia. Many eastern European countries, for long overshadowed by the Communist Bloc, have recently opened up, and our tours to Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania allow access to vast swathes of countryside still farmed by traditional methods that allow wildlife to flourish alongside. Parts of these tours are literally like stepping back in time and experiencing what western Europe was like decades ago. Whether you are choosing your first overseas birdwatching
trip or are in search of special Western Palearctic species in remote
corners, there is sure to be something for you in our extensive programme
of 'European' tours. |
